TURNER FAMILY OFFICE-Senior Relationship Manager

ABOUT
The Family Office serves the financial needs of the Turner family, founders of Dollar General Corporation. The firm serves the family using an integrated approach to investment management, trust administration, charitable foundations, tax and estate planning, accounting and financial reporting. The Family Office also coordinates the retention of outside expertise such as legal, accounting, insurance and other consultants, when appropriate.

Founded in 1998, The Family Office now has 20 employees who function in a very collaborative, “team of teams” manner, while maintaining a client-centric approach to their business. They currently serve three generations of family members, and five family foundations located in three Southeastern states. In 2010, under the leadership of The Family Office, the family chartered a private trust company, the first in Tennessee. Employees are encouraged to pursue ongoing personal and professional development.

THE POSITION

The Senior Relationship Manager is a senior member of The Turner Family office and is responsible for partnering with Cal Turner, Jr and his immediate family to develop financial and operational strategies for all investments, to provide reporting for all current activities and to act as the liaison for the family with all areas of The Family Office (TFO). The role will collaborate and work closely with other team members to provide operational help where needed and to provide input on operational improvement as the TFO continues to evolve to serve all generations of the Turner Family. The Senior Relationship Manager will continue the service mentality culture of TFO and will act with a servant leadership mindset. This individual will become a trusted partner to Cal Turner, Jr and his family unit and use financial insights and analysis for decision making. This role reports to the CEO of the Family Office.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Ten or more years as a senior financial executive with strong operational bias
  • Proven experience working with or within an institutional investor (Private Equity or Venture Capital) or experience in a regional/national accounting firm
  • Previous experience working for a family-owned enterprise or family office, preferred
  • Deep Knowledge of financial statement reporting with strong expertise in the interpretation and projection of financial statements
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: investment management, philanthropy, trust administration, estate planning and tax
  • Self-starter with detailed oriented personality and strong work ethic
  • Experience in formulating recommendations or solutions to complex issues
  • Proven experience in developing internal and external relationships
  • Strong client service skills with experience consulting with executives and collaborating with their advisors; leverages a servant’s heart mentality naturally
  • Adept at prioritizing and executing tasks; highly organized
  • Strong business acumen and stakeholder management experience
  • Ability to illustrate resilience: the ability to positively handle, adapt, and flex to the client, team, and workplace
  • Proven instinct for being discreet with highly sensitive information
  • Effective and efficient communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to achieve goals through collaboration with others
  • Exhibit strong integrity
  • CPA, CFA, or MBA, preferred

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the entire TFO team to lead, build, and nurture relationships with the family unit
  • Proactively engage and anticipate the client’s need for information
  • Provide timely financial reporting, projections and recommendations
  • Manage and advise on wealth preservation in conjunction with other TFO teams
  • Stay highly informed regarding the details of the business and be able to respond to questions with ease
  • Partner with the finance team to oversee personal accounting, management reporting, forecast and budgeting, financial risk management, and investment support
  • Serve as a liaison between the client and the teams that provide family office services and support
  • Make sure teams respond to requests in a professional and expedient manner
  • Serve as the relationship leader/facilitator for accounting, bookkeeping, bill payment, production of financial statements, cash flow planning, investment reporting, tax and estate planning, charitable efforts, risk management and special projects
  • Engage in one or more additional teams within the Family Office in an effort to improve the way that we serve clients
  • Develop and mentor teammates by providing leadership and continuous coaching
  • Use relevant financial insights about business to inform broader decision-making
  • Serve as a sounding board and valuable member of the executive team, pushing the level of insight within the team
  • Finely tune organizational controls and efficiencies
  • Provide sound financial guidance in evaluating strategic deals and investments
